Book Morris Memorial Hall

The Morris Memorial Hall was endowed to the village by May Morris as a memorial to her father.  This Grade II Listed building is located within the village conservation area on a lane that links the upper and lower parts of the village. It is a registered charity, governed by a trust deed dated 21st December 1936 and managed by Kelmscott residents on a wholly voluntary basis.

The building is Grade II listed, with most of the original features: warm honey coloured stone, mullioned windows with leaded panes, a beautiful wooden staircase and stage, and a high beamed ceiling and wooden panelling in the main room. It is a simple, practical and attractive building which is a pleasure to use

The hall is perfectly suited to any occasion. In the past it has been booked for weddings, christenings birthday and anniversary, parties, craft fairs, theatre performances, photo shoots and dance and fitness classes.

THE MAIN HALL

The main room in the hall measures 11.4 x 5.5 metres, and is suitable for 60 people seated or 90 people at maximum capacity. There is also a stage that measures 3.86m x 5.5m.

THE KITCHEN

The large kitchen, is 2.4m x 4.8m and has recently been completely refurbished with new solid oak units, double oven, two fridges, microwave and lots of crockery, glasses and cutlery.

EQUIPMENT

We have various trestle and fixed leg tables, and lots of folding wooden chairs for your use.

THE OUTSIDE SPACE

The outlook is onto open land, with lovely views over Kelmscott. Outside, there is a terraced area, a walled garden with mature trees and a lawn with wooden picnic benches. The lawn can accommodate a 7x10 metre marquee. A gate in the wall leads to the paddock behind and this area can be used as a car park for your guests for an additional booking fee a larger marque.
